LET’S PASS THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT AND FIX HEALTH CARE

This fall we can rebuild the Middle Class with the Employee Free Choice Act. While working families struggle, CEOs are making record profits. Even worse, corporations are working hard to deny workers their freedom to unite for a voice on the job—driving down wages, access to affordable healthcare, and retirement security for all of us. These CEOs wouldn’t work a day without a written contract to protect their perks and benefits—so why shouldn’t workers have the same protections? There’s federal legislation that will make sure all workers get a fair chance at achieving the American Dream.

The Employee Free Choice Act will:

• Create a fair playing field that allows all workers the freedom to form unions;

• Prevent corporations from illegally intimidating and firing workers who try to form unions; and

• Give workers the same freedoms to negotiate their contracts that CEOs already have.

This November we have a historic opportunity to elect Barack Obama and a Congress who will pass this legislation. It’s the only way we can create an economy that benefits workers and gives every family a chance at the American Dream.

That’s why SEIU members are collecting one million signatures to urge our leaders to enact the Employee Free Choice Act. Please add your name now! For more information, go to www.seiu.org .

This fall we also have the unprecedented opportunity to reform our broken healthcare system. Barack Obama will fight for making healthcare reform a priority.

Barack Obama has a plan to provide affordable healthcare to all Americans. He stood with SEIU healthcare workers uniting to have a voice in the care they provide and has led the fight to create a statewide buying club that lowers medication costs for seniors in Illinois.
