Contracts Reach Settlement

 

·         At UIHC we were able to win wage increases of 1.75% effective July 1, 2009, a 2% increase on July 1, 2010, and a 2% increase on January 1, 2011. We won new language that requires the Employer to negotiate with the Union to changes to the Flex benefit plan. Also allied healthcare professionals now will receive a $50 payment toward licensing or certification fees. Physician assistants will receive $100.

·         At Finley Hospital we negotiated a 13-month agreement with a 2 percent salary increase that goes into effect June 1st. The Union will also be notified of disciplines resulting in termination or suspension, and disciplines will be expunged after six years of good behavior. Part-time employees will now receive life insurance, and weekend-package employees will get short-term disability.

·         Bettendorf School’s members received a 21-cent across-the-board  (ATB) raise. The entire package was 2.49 percent.

·         The aides, custodians, bus drivers and secretaries at Central Clinton Schools in DeWitt each bargained approximately a 3.47 percent package, which represents different raises for the separate units. They also maintained insurance and won some concessions on funeral and sick leave language.

·         Clinton Bus Drivers received a 31-cent ATB raise, which is a 2.95 percent package.

·         Dubuque Schools Employees won a 19-cent ATB raise, which is a 2.9 percent package. We also won some concessions on bumping language.

·         In Iowa City, the physical plant and the secretaries settled for a 45-cent and 30-cent ATB raise respectively.

·         The North Scott chapter won a new level of teacher’s aide and a 5-cent across the board raise.

·         Washington members, who have been fighting a difficult superintendent for months, stood strong and won a 20-cent ATB raise.
